These are amazing for the price, I'm honestly rather shocked. I needed brown chiffon to add some trim to a top that's a bit too short on me. I actually went to ebay first and picked the cheapest option, where with shipping, came out to be around $4.xx. Out of curiosity (more than actually thinking I'd find something) I started searching on amazon too - only to find this for cheaper and free shipping. I was pretty bummed but I figured, eh, it's just a little bit more expensive, they're probably the same, not a huge deal. I did end up picking up a yard of the white and the off white (which is a pale yellow cream, very pretty) just for the hell of it (since I know those would come in handy later anyway).well I'll be damned, the solid brown chiffon from ebay (which was $4.xx due to shipping) arrived first and IMMEDIATELY upon opening I was disappointed. The material was stiff and very plasticky, and there was static all over the place, it was ridiculous. I could barely touch it without feeling the static. part of it may have been it coming out of the shipping packaging, but i clearly can tell I got what i paid for - which is cheap polyester stiff chiffon that I'm literally not gonna know what to do with because there's no way i can use it on garments w/o becoming a staticsville. Then I received the white and the cream chiffon I ordered here. holy crap, the quality difference is immediate out of the bag!! I didn't experience any static (or if there was any, I didn't notice it), and the chiffon material was really soft, a very fine weave. There was more fraying at the edge but I'm guessing it's because it's way softer and thinner and not so stiff. I believe these were a bit more sheer than the brown chiffon I got on ebay as well - perhaps that contributed to the softness. Whatever the case is, the quality difference is pretty extreme and I'm already in love. This is the chiffon that I experience in higher quality garments!!! There's nothing "plastic" feel to them at all. It's likely that this softness and more slipperiness would result in this fabric being harder to work with than the harder brown chiffon, but I'd take overall feel and quality over "ease to work with" any day. Just means I need to get better at sewing! And factor in that these ends up cheaper per yard due to the free shipping - I'm buying all my chiffon from this shop in the future. It's a total no brainer. The only real advantage the ebay shop had was that they shipped faster and I received it earlier than from Fabric Wholesale Direct. But it just means I'm probably going to purchase/stock up on material and color ahead of time and use them when needs arise, instead of leaving it until suddenly i realize i need such and such color chiffon, and then have to go buy it and wait to finish my project.
